Fiber and You!
So what is the whole point of fiber? Most people know this as their leafy green vegetables, or their whole grains ( like wheat ). See the big issue with fiber consumption is that most sources of fiber are pretty bland all alone. So people spice things up with additions to the plate. So lets go over some of the reasons why it is so important to get your fiber:
- Your bowels will love you more. Seriously. Most people think that fiber is something that is going to keep them running to the bathroom, but in reality, once your body is use to getting sufficient fiber that goes away. It is because most people are not getting enough fiber that when they introduce it into their daily intake, the body starts properly emptying the bowels and since this is "irregular" for most people they perceive it as an issue instead of a benefit.
- Your heart will love you more. Fiber has been proven time and again to be beneficial at helping to reduce the amount of cholesterol entering the system. The way it does this is by becoming a gel in the upper GI and absorbing some of the cholesterol that is released for uptake. When that happens, it digests slower ( or not at all if it makes it far enough and into the colon to be removed in waste ).
- Your pancreas will love you more. When the fiber we consume hits the upper GI and becomes gel-like not only does it absorb cholesterol but it also takes in sugars as well. What that means for us is that when it absorbs those sugars, it means less sugar is hitting your blood, which means in turn that your pancreas does not have to work as hard to pump out insulin to counteract that shot of sugar to the system. The real take away from this is that if your pancreas puts out less insulin consistently your body will become more sensitive to insulins effects and will maintain a better metabolism.
This really was a very brief jump into fiber. I will revisit this in more depth at another time in a video so I can show everyone some of the quality fiber products we carry and why I think so highly of them.
